FERTILITY & HEALTH SERVICES
We offer our services in our clinic in Hoddesdon and mobile (we can come to you) Any mobile service is subject to a fee. We are fully trained insured and have vast knowledge in canine fertility.
Ultrasound scanning (from day 30 post-mating)
Ultrasound scanning is a safe, non-invasive way to confirm pregnancy in dogs or other animals.
At around 30 days after mating, the embryos are developed enough to be seen on an ultrasound machine.
This scan can:
Confirm whether the animal is pregnant
Give a rough idea of litter size (though final numbers may differ)
Check that the pregnancy is progressing normally
Identify any early concerns, such as resorption or abnormalities
It does not harm the mother or the developing puppies.
We can also scan after a natural birth if your unsure if all puppies have been delivered.
From £30.00
Microchipping
Microchipping involves inserting a tiny electronic chip (about the size of a grain of rice) under the animal’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades.
The chip carries a unique identification number that links to the owner’s details in a national database.
If the animal is ever lost or stolen, a vet dog warden can scan the chip and contact the owner. It is now law that puppies have to be microchipped before leaving there breeder at 8 weeks old.
To implant & Register each puppies microchip From £10 Each
Semen analysis
Semen analysis is used to assess the fertility of a male animal. A sample is collected and examined under a microscope to evaluate:
Sperm count (how many sperm cells there are)
Motility (how well the sperm swim)
Morphology (whether the sperm cells look normal)
Presence of any infection, abnormalities, or contaminants
This service helps determine whether a male is suitable for breeding and can predict breeding success
Microscope check From £40.00.
Full semen analysis with certificate From £150.00
Worldwide chilled semen preparation and shipping
This service prepares semen from a stud dog (or other species) to be shipped fresh but cooled—not frozen—to breeders around the world.
The process includes:
Collection of semen
Extending it with special protective solutions to keep it viable
Cooling it to the correct temperature (usually 4–5°C)
Packaging it safely in a temperature-stable container
Arranging worldwide shipping with paperwork
Chilled semen is usually viable for 7 - 10 days , allowing for successful insemination at the receiving end.
From £150.00
Cytology ovulation testing
Vaginal cytology helps determine where a female is in her heat cycle.
A swab of vaginal cells is taken and examined under a microscope. The appearance of these cells changes as ovulation approaches.
This test can determine:
If the female has already ovulated
If ovulation is approaching soon
Whether she is at the ideal breeding time
From £20.00
Full DNA health and colour panel testing
This involves taking a swab (usually from inside the cheek) or a blood sample to analyse the animal’s DNA.
The test can include:
Health screening
Checking for genetic diseases the animal may carry or be affected by, such as:
Curly coat & Dry Eye
Episodic Falling.
PRA (progressive retinal atrophy)
Von Willebrand’s disease
Breed-specific inherited conditions
Colour and trait testing
Identifying genes related to:
Coat colour(s) the animal can pass on
Colour dilution
Pattern traits (e.g., merle, brindle)
Other inherited characteristics
DNA panels provide important information for responsible breeding and healthy litters.
Highly Experienced, reliable and carried out with professional standards.
